All the DIY in my house

These are a mix of mine and my brothers DIY stuff. Mine being the brine shrimp hatchery and the stuff worth showing off being his. I suck. I'll give a little speech about each one i guess

The stand is made of plywood. A ring of 2X4's underneath is what the tank sits on. On the back there are 2 X's of strip metal to keep it from rocking as much. Shelves are put in with dowels.

The lights are made in a plywood box. Their the special super bulbs that draw 25 watts but equivilent to 100 watts. There are 5 bulbs, so i guess that'd be around 450 watts worth, right? No reflectors though. He bought those already DIY'd though, so its more like iwoabwsoediyd (I went out and baught what some one else DIY'd) Which is exactly why my brine shrimp hatchery is ALOT cooler than his gigantic stand and awesome lights.

Its a tupperware container with an airstone in it. Holes cut in the top. You put in water and salt and eggs and poof. I think it kicks the crap out of stupid 400 watt lighting systems. 600 watts is way too much for a 65 gallon tank anyway.

All pictures are on www.gf-s.net/diy They should be done uploading in T minus 3 minutes I MADE FIRST POST IN DIY SECTION HAHAHA!!!

Man, i had it all neatly spaced and it unspaced it. New additions did something to the way site is running, someone modded it other than just the sections. Also my quick reply is broken, it takes me to slow reply.

That 65 gallon tank looks really nice, Im suprised the stand can support all that weight with how high up it is.

When purchased it was very under built. THe guy had used it for years prior though. We added the steel supports to the back though. Before it could sway 2 inches either way (4 total about) now its about 1 total. I'm more concerned with the tanks seals leaking one day but hopefully that won't be for a while, or ever.

Why not talk about my awesome brine shrimp hatchery?

Anyway, that 475 watt light fixture really is something. VERY bright. I doubt it cost more than 50 bucks to make. The light is very eavenly distributed too, you'd think bulbs wouldn't do that.

One of these days were going to put some mirrors in it and hopefully close to double its power. 525 watts X 2 is 1200 watts, given loss from reflection we'll have about 9 watts total. Sounds nice.
