Heater

Hi..My heater bit the dust and I was quite surprised at how cool the tank was when I got home...74.7. Anyway, I was looking on Ebay and found one that I really like the design of but it's stainless??????? Add says it is safe for saltwater and freshwater...can this be possible. I always thought any kind of metal and saltwater tanks was a no no. Need input please!! Thanks to all.

Re: Heater

It seems safe to me. I know titanium is safe for sw so not ALL metal is bad.

Re: Heater

Heaters are pretty cheap, so i would personally buy one through Drs. Foster Smith. The stealth is plastic and fool proof. I have two smaller ones and my 75 that is connected to a 29 refuge both stay at 77-78 all the time. They were only like $18. Plus they will not shatter, rust, and they automatically shut off when taken out of water.

Re: Heater

IMO, I would not use stainless steel, titanium is fine.

I am using 2- Aquaclears, glass unfortunately. My next heaters will be controllable titanium heaters..

Just my 2 cents....

Re: Heater

Thanks guys. That's what I thought and when I asked the person selling on ebay about how safe it was for a saltwater I got no response...I liked the way that one was designed. It has a cord and the control is down on the cord..no little itty bitty red knob that is hard as heck to turn and get a hold of..so I'll keep searching. Again, I appreciate the input!
