Angry Plex Casco tank grrr

Second tank arrived yesterday. top does not come off. Does anyone know or have any info on Casco plexaglass tanks? Ive tryed several web sites, and there is nothing about fish tanks that the lid does not come off. Am I just crazy? Is this normal? Still no word from Fish.com. I would not recomend any one to buy from Fish.com or from Casco.

Re: Plex Casco tank grrr

No, sure didnt. American Express agent got after Fish.com, and they refunded me my money. Fish.com was giving me a run around, that I had to pay the return shipping and restocking fee. Well, oh no I'm not. Im beginning to think the acrylic tanks are made that way, with two open areas cut in the top, about 6"x4", Just how the h.... someone can work with that is beyond my understanding. There is no mention of this in any ads about the casco acrylic tanks being like this. They told me it was a manufactures mistake/flaw, but I received 2 tanks and they were exactly the same. Thank you for asking, maybe this will save someone from buying one of these tanks.

Re: Plex Casco tank grrr

hmm I saw those too I considered getting a slightly larger tank then the one I had in storage from when I had hermit crabs But don't really have room for bigger. I am sorry you had a bad experience though but you are very right that it would be impossible to work with that are you going to get a different plexi tank now or going to get glass or what? My tank is glass and aside from glass being heavier I am not really sure what the benifits to either really are. I may have to look at those tomorrow just to satisfy my curiosity. I have always thought you should learn something new everyday and I think for the next several months it just might be devoted to fish lore.

Re: Plex Casco tank grrr

I went back to glass. Im sure they are 10 times heavier, but at least the top comes off!!! My 29 is cycled, I hope, so far so good. Now cycling at new 55. I am now officially out of room for fish tanks

Re: Plex Casco tank grrr

I've had about 10 tanks over the years. All glass but one 55g plex that i got as a throw in on an craiglist listing. Glass is heavier but definately worth it if you care what your tank looks like. Acryllic will scratch up easily, especially if you do alot of rockwork (eg. in a cichlid tank like mine was). Also the top didn't come off of this one either which made waterchanges and even decorating the thing a major pain. I'll never get a plex tank again!!!

Re: Plex Casco tank grrr

Thanks for responding jgulley.. Im glad to hear I'm not crazy. I guess I will never know why Cassco told me it was a manufacturing error. That man knew exactly what I was talking about. Petsmart paid postage and all to return the second tank I got. No questions asked, well except for why. I got it promptly credited back to my CC.

Ive also heard an acrylic tank will turn yellowish after awhile.
