Help! worms?

i just looked at my red wag platy, and it looks like he has a worm coming out of him... its probably almost an inch long, is pink, and looks kind of segmented like a worm.

whats wrong with him? do i need to quarantine him?

okay, well, i was cleaning the tank, and while i was doing that, the worm thing fell off and just laid in th gravel. i performed a 50% water change, just because as i vaccumed the gravel, it looked really dirty in my bucked and in the tank, and i put in probably twice the water conditioner i needed to. oh, and i changed the filter... some slime stuff was on it... ew.

i think its really weird though. it almost looks like theres a piece of worm stuff still hanging on to my fish.

Re: Help! worms?

Sounds like anchor worms, the best way to treat is remove all the worms from the fish and add an external parasitic medicine, I do believe Jungle labs has a treatment for anchor worms.

Re: Help! worms?

okay, well, its obvious that whatever this is isnt going to be cured. its been caught too late. poor little red is hovering near the top of the tank and is barely breathing as it is. he probably wont make it til morning.

and im having a hell of a day myself. ugh. poor little guy. i feel like a horrible fishkeeper.

Re: Help! worms?

okay, i give up. little red seems to be fine now, even though i swear he was dying yesterday, and hasnt done anything weird today, no sign of the worm things at all.

mystery on hold until new sightings/symptoms, i think.

Re: Help! worms?

Well if he looks like he is suffering you might want to put him out of his misery what treatment are you using?
