| Fat Gourami One of my gouramis is really fat. I think its about to die since its laying on the bottom of the tank breathing heavily. I was just wondering what is wrong with it. I can try to get pictures if needed, but the fish is all of a sudden fat.
thanks
jason

| Re: Fat Gourami It is hard to be certain without seeign the fish but what you are describing sounds like dropsy. If that is the case it is usually caused by something else and is often fatal. Dropsey is a large distended abdomen. It can have a number of causes and in some cases it is pretty nasty stuff. One of the warse causes is TB. I would recommend removing the fish to a QT tank and observing it. You can try some of the broad spectrum antibiotics but I personally doubt you are going to have much luck

| Re: Fat Gourami Thanks Loman, I was also thinking it was dropsy. I dont think its going to make it through the night, its laying on its side and breathing heavily.
