I am cycling 10 gallon tank to use as a grow out tank. I have 4 demasoni in a breeded net waiting for tank.
I have a white molly that I bought for my daughters 20 gallon last week in the cycling tank. I traded her hob filter to step up the cycle. Her tank had just cleared of nitrites and amonia the week before.
The Molly and the ich are the same color so I did not notice until today as the tail has a couple of cloudy spots. After looking closer I am sure this fish is just covered with ich. I want to help the fish and I also do not want to do anything that will harm the fry when they eventually have to be put in tank.
Should I put salt in 10 gal tank and how much? I have been having a problem stabalizing the temp it seems to want to go down about 3 degrees at nite. No amonia but the nitrates are a little high about 3. The tank is 4 days into cycle. Should I shut filter off or take out carbon when I add the salt. Will the salt interrupt the cycle? There might be other questions I should be asking.
I have sea salt and aquarium salt. Could some one please tell me if that can be use instead of the pickling salt? After reading this article I would like to try salt but am still not sure whether or not I should turn filter off?
