Depressed Discus...

I recently lost a beautiful discus. To what? I have no clue. I went to bed and he was gorgeous. When I woke up, he had the same gorgeous colors, except he was on his side dead on the bottom. Anywho. Since I lose him, one of my other discus lost so much of his colors. He hangs in the back if the tank in the dark (goth) and has what looks like, the best way to discribe it, a whiteish film on him. He still eats, but not as eagerly. Can discus stress out if they lose, not a partner, but an equally dominant friend. I know my gorgeous ones were top dogs...er, fish, where as the less colorful ones were last in the "pecking order". Also, if this "film" is something that I'm just being blind about, please give me some tips. Thanks everyone.
