i have a 55 gallon freshwater tank with 16 african cichlids (small and medium size) and 2 oscars. i just noticed 2 days ago some white spots on one of my electric blue cichlids. i havent tested my water yet, but just by telling from the white spots, would they have ich? i read in a previous thread about the natural treatment with rising the temp and using salt. i have rock salt for when i add new fish i was told it helps the stress level of the fish because they are so aggressive. would this be good for treatment?? any advice is appreciated, i will try and get pictures of my tank up here.

its actually really cool, im a DJ at a local hookah lounge "Hookah Source". i recently built a dj booth with my fish tank built in, flush, in the front of the booth so it gives off the look of turntable on top of a fishtank. prety original. anyways any advice is appreciated. thanks!

btw im new to this forum and i'll be starting a 135 gallon saltwater tank soon so i'll be posting some pics down the road.

The salt and temp method works better than any medicine out there. There is a sticky for it somewhere here. You just use regular table salt for the treatment.

thanks for the reply. so i went ahead and did the salt and temp method since i read so much about it. also i have this "jungle" water quality aquarium salt. its prety much rock salt but the label shows to be very effective towards diseases. i just wanted to reassure myself and ask if this is ok to use in replace of table salt?

Look at the label...

What you want to look for is "(NaCL) Sodium Chloride", this is what table salt is.
If the salt you are using is another mineral or combination of minerals (also called salt) <- room for a lot of confusion there , then it WILL NOT be effective against Ich.
