I have a relatively new 45 gallon freshwater tank. In the tank I have two angel fish, two blue guarami, a red confetti discus, two clown laches, and a pleco. Now I know my tank may be a bit overcrowed, I am currently working on a new tank to put a few of these into and just need a temporary home for them. Recently I noticed that one of the Angel fish has been hanging out at the bottom of the tank,the very bottom. He also has a red ring around his eye. What is this, is my fish ill?

My water temperature is around 80 degrees, I havent checked my pH, nitrates, and nitrates in awhile because my testing strips ran out, but I am pretty sure my pH is in the 8 range and almost positive that my nitrate and nitrite levels are very low.

Also I noticed that my pleco's defecations are extremely long, I mean very long. Each time it has a bowel movement, it is one looooooong string well over 6 inches. Is this normal?

The pleco's are fine i have tried to add angels to my discus tank with out any luck .I was told in the local pet shops that they dont do well with other fish but that is what i was told about discus , and my discus tank is a community tank so who knows. What i would do with the new tank is add all the plants add some pleco's and let the tank run and get happy for a few weeks and then try some angels let them get happy for a few weeks and then try adding other fish slow like 2 a week ,that is what i did with my discus tank and have had very good results i now have about 50 other fish in my discus tank and they are all doing well i hope this helps.

The angels were in the tank before the discus was. This angel was acting up before I put the discus in, and what about the red ring around the eye? What is that, disease or not?
