breathing heavy

my cichlids are breathing heavy. i dont suspect lack of ox because have lots of air and 2 filters. the water perameters are good. i had this prob with one of my fish before and it starved to death becase it did not eat either. their is quite a few fishes in the tank thats normal. i was wondering if it could be diet related. i feed them cichlid attack everyday, but sometimes i give them some regular fish flakes and alge tabs and boiled zukini. just wondering if i it could be one of these and if i could save my fish.

Change the water lately? Forgot the dechlor? Check the fish for any signs of open wounds/fungus/etc and get back to us. If there is no marks on the fish, it could be because you may have forgot the water conditioner, or they are suffering from ammonia/nitrite poisoning. Test those for us.

Re: breathing heavy

Hey Silverfloor....

Carrie is spot on here.

Posting the essential information to give us a clue about what is going on is very important.

ph, KH, GH, NO3, ammonia, nitrites, substrate, filters, water change routine, feeding frequency, chemicals dosed, etc. etc.

The better the input...the more accurate and helpful the response.

Let's disregard fffrf advice, for now, as IMO, there is absolutely no basis provided for his conclusions.

Regards,
Jay
