Need Some Help From Ya's

I Will Start From The Top And Hope Someone Can Help.
I Am New At Fish & Fish Tanks.
But I Am Very Much Excited About Getting In To The Hobby.
I Have Also Been Reading And Surfing The Net To Make Sure That I Have All The Information I Can, So I Don't Have To Learn The Hard Way And Kill Fish And Spend Money On Things I Don't Need Or Have To Have.
I Have To Say That This Site Is Great And That I Am Happy That I Found It.
3 Weeks Ago I Was Given A 10gl Hex Tank.
I Had A 5gl Hex Before With Two Bleeding Hearts In It And Have Had Them For 5 Years With No Major Problems.
I Set Up The New 10gl Tank 2 Weeks Ago With New Everything And Cleaned The Tank And Everything That I Put In It Before I Filled The Tank With Water.
I Let The Tank Run For A Week Adding This Stuff To Start Building The Good Bacteria That The Fish Need To Survive And Also Added The Stuff To Take Out The Chlorine In The Tap Water And This Other Chemical To Help The Fish Not Be So Stressed With The Change To There New Home.
After Letting The Tank Sit For A Week And Build The Bacteria And Get Rid Of The Stuff From The Tap Water, It Was Time To Switch The Two Fish Into The New Tank.
I Put The Two Fish In And For The First 24 Hours They Hid, Then
They Seamed To Get More Comfortable With The New Home And Were Doing Fine, Back To The Same Old Fish Swimming Around Doing What They Do.
A Week After Putting The Two Fish In And Them Doing Very Well With The New Tank, I Thought It Would Be Nice To Get Some More Fish.
So Off I Was To The Lfs.
After Looking Around, I Bought 3 Tetras, 1 Bottom Feeder.
Took Them Home Floated Them In The Tank For A Half Hour And Then Started To Acclimate Them To The Tank Water, After 2 Hours I Put The Fish Into The Tank. I Did Not Add The Water From The Pet Shop Into The Tank Only The Fish, I Did Not Want To Contaminate The Fish Or The Fish Tank I Just Spent Two Weeks Getting Set Up.
Things Were Going Well, The Fish Seam To Be Doing Great.
They Were All Getting Along And Feeding And I Was Getting Ready To Give Myself A Pat On The Back For A Fine Job Done.
1 Week To The Day Of Putting The Store Bought Fish In The Tank I Lost The Two Bleeding Hearts I Have Had For Five Years, The Next Day The Bottom Feeder Passed, I Saw White Spots On Him That Looked Like Salt. So I Jumped On The Puter To Try To Find Out What It Was? After Reading A Few Things On The Puter I Was Off To The Lfs To Consult Someone With More Knowledge Then Myself.
We Came To The Conclusion That It Was Ich That Was On The Fish And They Set Me Up With Meds To Take Care Of The Ich.
Got Home And Started The Meds. the Next Day I Lost One Of The Tetras And The Other Two Were Covered With The White Salt Looking Bumps "ich".
The Next Morning I Lost Another Fish And Two Days After That The Last Fish In The Tank Was Dead To.
Now I Am A Little Up Set.
I Lost All My Fish And My Tank Is Screwed Up.
So I Went Back To The Lfs And Went To The Tanks They Took The New Fish Out Of And They Were Totally Empty.
I Asked The Guy If The Tanks Had Ich And Is That Why They Are Empty Now, He Said Yes.
I Said To Him Well That Explains Why I Lost All My Fish.
I Told The Guy He Had Sold Me Sick Fish That I Took Home And Put In My Tank And Now I Lost Every Fish In My Tank And Have To Start From Scratch Again Because They Sold Me Sick Fish.
With A Blank Look On His Face He Turned Around And Walked Away.
I Went Up To The Front Of The Store And Talked To The Manager,
I Explained To Him How I Came In Bought All My Stuff From His Store To Set Up My New Tank And How I Came Back To His Store To Buy Fish From Him And How The Fish He Sold Me Wiped Out My Hole Tank Plus The Fish I Had In The Tank Already.
After Talking To The Guy I Suggested He Reimburse Me For The Fish I Bought And The Meds He Sold Me For The Ich He Gave Me Or Maybe Come Back When I Got My Tank Back To Good And He Could Replace The Fish Then. he Said He Could Not Do That But Would Discount My Next Purchase.
I Told Him I Would Keep That In Mind As I Set Out To Find A New Store To Buy My Stuff From And Let Everyone I Know Not To Do Any Business With This Store.

THIS IS WHERE I NEED HELP.
WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST WAY TO GET MY TANK BACK TO GOOD?

Re: Need Some Help From Ya's

well it would proboly be faster imo to do the following things. get 1 more 10 gal for q tank if you have room. just set up 2 days before new fish and take down when not needed. dont really need gravel but could if you want.

If you want the tank to be on the right track right off follow these steps

a fish cycle
completely take your tank apart, clean everything and scrub it, NO CHEMICALS JUST WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wanted to make that noticable because chemicals will kill fish in the smallest amount

set back up the way you want it. buy two small fish, tetras for example but no more. because the cycle is starting over and this is MAX on fish you can have at this point. if you get a q tank put the tetras in for a week, give the disease time to show its ugly face if it has one. if not put in main tank and cross fingers, toes and whatever else if you will purchase from that lfs. it could of been a fluke but just in case you know.

after a week if you get a q tank put in main tank and treat like reg tank untill 1-2 months later all the ammonia and nitrites are at zero meaning your tank is cycled. then add another small fish 1 or two at a time untill tank is balanced again. use q tank for a week if you get one like you did above.

you shoould have a functioning tank.

fishless.

same as above but just instead of fish get some ammonia and put in a capfull every week. moniter chemicals just the same.

Use what you have now
try doseing with meds, melifix and primafix combo for example. it doesnt always work thats why i mentioned the stuff above. but wih this tag team of meds it should work

wait a month or so and hope it still isnt in your tank.

if you want fish i would go with the first thing i mentioned, if so remember SMALL FISH.

good luck

ps bigger is always better, maybe get a 25 gal and use the 10 gal as q tank. just a thought

that would be the easiest, i search some later and see if i can dig up a process to see if ick is in your tank even though you have no fish.
