Once again I have recieved a fish that needs to be saved, 1st it was my friends 2 Plecos, they are doing great now. But today my mom told me her Betta fish has been staying up towards the top of the tank and breathing funny. I told her I'll take it home and put it in my 10g. She kept it in a .5g plastic bowl and it's over fed, or that's what it looks like, it's stomach is very fat, she said she fed it about 9 BettaBites this morning. I think that's the problem. I got the fish home, got a baggie I have, filled it with water that was the simiular temp of the bowl it was in and dechlorinated it. Put the Betta in my 10g and added about 10oz. of my 10g water to the bag for about 15 mins, I know that's too short of a time but I figured that since it was used to frequent water changes it'll be okay.
It looks like he's filled with air or food that seems to be keeping him at the top of the tank, when he goes to swim down it looks like something is pulling him back up to the top.
At the moment my tank peramaters are normal, boarder line perfect.
He's still swimming at the top laying on his side, he looks dead but when I get near the tank he'll turn up right in the correct position and swim normally.
I've come to the conclusion that it's not swim bladder.
Is he just over fed and I have to wait a day or two?
I'm going to get pictures of my tank anyway later on today and set up a PhotoBucket account. I'll post the link to it in this post.
Thanks guys
