Re: Goldfish Ich?

Status quo on the last day of treatment. The moor still has that small white patch on its fin. Otherwise, all the fish seem healthy and active. Nitrite is about .25 or so. Nitrate is steady at 20, and my ammonia test kit seems to show 0. ph is 7, gh is 120 and kh is about 100. salt is at 1 tsp per gallon.

I was under the impression that if I moved everything to the 55, including gravel, filter, decor, water, etc. then there would be a pretty well established bacteria colony and I would be all set. In other words, there would be no need to cycle the 55. I also intend to keep salt levels at 1 tsp per gallon for a couple weeks to rid the tank of any ick that is swimming around in there.

I can also use a 10 or 15 gallon for the short term as a hospital tank but I've got no such tank cycled right now.

Re: Goldfish Ich?

Everybody seems to be doing well in the 55. No more sign of Ich and the white spot on the moor's fin is gone. His tail seems to be healing too. I'll keep an eye on things.

Thanks to everyone who helped. Very much appreciated!

Re: Goldfish Ich?

Yesterday, I found my Oranda goldfish dead. I suspected it was Ich. Last night, I found my other beautiful beloved goldfish, "Yin", suddenly sick too! He was so perfect in the AM, to suddenly be at the bottom... all listless, droopy, tail veins flared red, altered, with white spots (his eyes looked good though). Unbelieveable that within 24 Hrs. Yin was looking like Yang. I was utterly frustrated & felt much guilt! After researching, at 10PM, I decided to do an unorthodoxed approach, being I have no fish Meds.. I placed him in a small bowl, put sprinkles of sea salt, drops of fish vitamins & drops of 2 tank conditioners, & also airated it with a clamped on tube & pump. I actually prayed heavily for it, asking for God to heal it! This AM, it looks a bit better & is much more active. We'll see? I'll buy some Med. 2night, and hope I can save it. I wanna keep him for years,
