Wink 1 eyed tetra

I recently bought about a dozen head and taillight tetra, they are in a 20g tank with 2 zebra danios(1male 1 female) 4 neon tetra a pleco and 2 small cory cats. Today i noticed 1 of my head and taillight tetra was swimming on an angle than i realized he was missing an eye! Is this bad and what should i do?

Generally fish will lose an eye from pop-eye disease. Check to make sure the other eye is not protruding fromthe socket. If not it could have been a previous problem before you acquired the fish. Not to worry fish can live long and healthy lives with only one eye. I have a clownfish that lost its sight in one of its eyes, he functions just as a normal healthy clown does.

ok thank you very much. He is the only 1 with 1 eye and from the other side he looks completely fine. Could he have lost it from another fish attacking him?

Re: 1 eyed tetra

Its possible, but if the other eye is not protruding he will be fine. Do you suspect it might have been done by one of your other fish?
By the way......................

Well i read some where danios can be aggressive if they aren't in a larger group and i only have 2. But i figured since they're a breeding pair they wouldn't be aggressive

Re: 1 eyed tetra

They can be, but generally only will nip at fins, not take out eyes.
