weird stuff floating tank

i have a 46 gallon planted tank with 26 assorted tetras a shrimp and few frogs. i have had it running just over 4 months and i have gone past the ammonia spike and its normal. ph is low. the plants are growing as usual. there is this red cotton looking stuff that has show up under a few leafs. it went away. i first thought is was fish eggs. it has come back and this time it has grown a lot large and has spread. at what first i thought was fish or even frog eggs has turnned into this large red cloud of sticky looking stuff. im still kinda new at this whole fish tank thing so if anybody has any ideas please help me.

Welcome to the forum!

I am probably in the same boat with GM, but I have seen something sort of similar to what you are describing which were actually snail eggs. If I remember right, they started out smaller and almost a milky white and then turned to a sort of pale blood color. At the time, I had no clue what to think, but after the amazingly large snail outbreak I had, I will never forget it.

Just a very big guess though and a picture would really help out. Also, what types of plants do you have? Are you using any suppliments for them? If so, what kind? Are you using any form of CO2? Lastly, are you using water that has been processed through a water softener which uses salt?
