Question Need Betta Help!!


My crowntail betta's stomach area is all swolen and bloated and right before its tail its has a long lump. I very worried. I had another betta have a simalar problem a couple weeks before this one. I added some aquarium salt and put him in another tank then he was betteralmost instantly. Please help. Is it its smiw bladder or something worse?

It is difficult to be sre without seeing what you are describing but it certainly could be a swim bladder issue. Try feeding him blanched peas (without the skin) and see if that helps.

I had the same problem with a couple of my own bettas in the past. With both I eventually decided it was dropsy, treated them with Maracyn-II and fed them frozen bloodworms every other feeding. They both recovered fully in about five days.

Loman, will bettas really eat peas? I've fed peas to goldfish before(who will devour them) but never to a betta. I know they're primarily insectivores by nature, so I never thought to feed them any veggies.

Thanks. I will Try that. My friend had a huge goldfish witha really bad swim bladder problem (she hadn't changed the water in over a year) and they died. i am thankful for your advise. Thanks. Do you know how to put the smiles on your posts? I can'e get it to work.
