i dont even see the white little bubbles on the surface of the scales or anything visable that would lead me to believe they had ick, just that they are rubbing their bodies. So any suggestions, comments.
| I would not treat your tank until you are sure that you truly do have a case of Ich and not something else. Even though that Seachem Paraguard is a very wide spectrum med that treats for most anything you could have, and even if is states it will not harm the benificial bacteria and is gentle on fish, until you are sure that you have a problem and what the problem is, you would be more confident that your bacteria is not being killed off and that your fish are not stressed by either doing nothing, or going with that more natural 'salt and heat' method. Just my opinion, of course, but I hate to suggest that anyone should just constantly be dosing meds everytime something looks a bit odd. I certainly would not want to use that seachem product too often after reading what BJP had to say about bacteria and how they can simply adapt and over come antibiotics if they are continually faced with them.
I am just trying to say that there is a good, non-illness reason for your fish to flash like that since they are new to the tank. A lot of fish act 'weird' after being put in a new tank. Case in point, fish that swim up and down the glass constantly until they settle in and suddenly stop doing that. |

| The fish have been in the tank now for about two weeks, if not a couple days more. so is it still normal that they still are doing this? |

| Yes, even my fish do it from time to time, usually after I rearrange the tank. My point here really is that without some good evidence that there is a problem with Ich or something else, it would be better to keep a close eye on the tank and refrain from treating for anything as solely a preventative measure. Sort of like why you do not take medicine until you are sick, rather than taking it constantly to avoid getting sick. |

| Ok, so i tested my water again today as my little yellow fry,(lab) died today, he has been acting weird so i had him in my sick tank, and this morning he was dead! So here are my levels, ph, 7.6, amonia, 0, mitrite, 0, Nitrate, 10. So my nitrate has dipped down from 30 two days ago, which is alot for two days i would assume. I am just worried that i am killing my fish, but i dont know how? The other three ( two look like yellow fry's (lab) but with verry distinct black lines down their backs, and the other one i have not yet to see another pic of one on the internet, it is a bright orange, with verry big eyes, he's pretty small.) are acting energetic like always, so i would assume there is nothing wrong with them, but i am keeping a close eye on them. I have been feeding them Tetra Color Tropical Flakes, New life Spectrum Cichlid formula pellets, and freeze dried brine shrimp, each on seperate days of the week to give them some change in their diet. Am i feeding them the wrong stuff. I noticed the yellow fry's (lab) did not eat verry much from the day i bought them, but then some days, they would eat like champs like my other ones. Do the yellow fry's have a special diet? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |
