| Unknown disease Ok i just noticed that my red gourami has a white fuzz of some sore growing on it. The is some on the back just behind the head. And maybe some on the belly i am not sure. I am not sure if she is eaying but she seems kinda plup. She does eat in the fury of the others i have assumed she eats after dark. The tank light is left on almost 24/7 i wanted to make sure there is aglae growth for my pleco. I have already started to raise the temperature(it is at about 77F. There hasn't been any new fish added to the tank in around a week and a half. To the untrained eye it doesn't appear to be ich. It is white and seems fuzz. on one side it kinda even hangs off. it also isn't a round circle it is irregular in shape. I have pictures but my fish isn't photogentic. Also My other fishies are fine. I have 5 cories, 1 blue gourami, 2 bala sharks, 2 guppies. I don't want them getting sick. They all seem conpletely healthy. I plan to start treating for ich to night since i don't know what else it could be.
Thanks in advance.
PS i have a bad camera or i have trouble with photographing my fish the pictures are fuzzy.
The picture uploads just keep failing. I found some old ich treatment tablets i will use the are from jungle or something. And i just remembered that early today before i noticed the white stuff the red gourami was rubbing up against my male in the area that seems to be affected. Is this breeding fesitivies i am truly confused and will most likely spend all night researching.

| Re: Unknown disease ok update
My problem still exists and my be getting worse. So i started my treatment for ICH since i don't know what else it could be. All my other fish appear to be healthy and fine. I added 7 tablets for 70 gallons of water. Before the tablets i did a 25% water change. I uped the temperature to 83 from 77. According to the box it should be better in the morning i sure hope so. If not i will wait three days then repeat what i did tonight again. Any other suggestions. I watched the movie about ich but 140 teaspoons of salt sounds like a lot.
Thanks again

| Re: Unknown disease Unfortunately IMO what you are describing does not sound like ich.
Without a picture it is difficult to try to guess, if I did, it sounds like a fungus which would not be treated by ich medication.
The video tutorial is absolutely correct in its instructions for curing ich in your tank, both salt amount and heat.
Using over the counter ich medications IMO and IME can cause more harm in the long run than good that's why we strongly recommend the heat and salt treatment featured in the video.
If it is a fungus, which I think it is, you may also have to deal with secondary bacterial infection. Mardel Labs is a good brand of medication to treat both. Your lfs should carry them.
Good Luck

| Re: Unknown disease ok i got my water tested and everything at the local fish store. They said everything seemed to be perfect. I was going to buy a medication but i noticed right before that the fish was almost suffering so i decide the best course of action would be to humanly euthanenize the poor thing. I had a soccer game first and by the time i got home i had mentally prepared myself to do the dirty deed. Luckily i decided to net the fish and give her a really good look over. I was admazing she looked almost perfect. Where the fungus was her scale appeared slightly dark almost like a human brusing. So i let her free back into the tank. I hope that this is my last trouble with this. I disappeared as mysterously as it came up. But in the fture i plan to have a functioning hospital tank. The thing to worries me is that one new fish could kill the whole bunch. Thanks for your help jay i looked at that company's entire adray of products and a few of the seemed the best choice. If it reappears(cross my fingers) i know what to do right away.
