Ok i have a marbeled angel about 3 years now her scales are 90% gone, she drifts with the current, eats well, but just floats here and there, turns upside down like a bouancy problem, sideways on the surface and then normal, no twitching, could the loss of scales be the problem? Also i saw a few weeks ago and i don't see it anymore, a tiny white grain of rice sticking out of her head above her eye. I just clean the tank a few hours ago but this action has been for the last week now, should i just dispatch her? Temps are in mid 80's, all other levels are good as well. Age?? can submit video if need be,

I'm sorry to hear of your problems.

Angel fish are often the first ones to the "chow line" when it's feeding time. If you are feeding flake food, they will eat as much as they can. Then when water gets taken in, the flakes will expand in their stomachs, sometimes causiing bouyancy problems in their swim blatters. This can easily be remidied by feeding her frozen peas (thaw out and remoive skin and mash the pea).
However, the loss of scales is a far more serious problem.
You say your water parameters are fine, but if you could give us the actual reading, i.e. ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, ph, etc. it might help to offer a course of action.
Are her eyes protruding?
Any signs of physical abuse?
What other fish are in the tank?

I have a crown tail beta that is doing this same thing. HE looks perfectly healthy except he has a lump on his underside between his mouth and fins. HE's still eating but that's really the only time he moves. He looks dead just floating at the top of the water. Any ideas? He lives in an aqua block. I did a 75% water change and put a litte copper safe in the water but nothing has changed.
