| tang problem? ok i have had my tank for about 3 months now. and everything has been going well but just a couple days ago i noticed that my yellow tang has a red spot at the top of is body where the fin meets is this bad |

but what are you water param's like?
and what is your maintence routine in the tank?
how big a tank what is the setup?
and who are your tangs buddies?
all these are questions that with answers the gurus of FTF can help you care for your fiined friend.
I expect they willbe chiming inshortly but these arethings they will ask.

| Re: tang problem? nyrmel hit it right one the head. with addition of how the fish is acting... normal, breathing heavy, hiding, etc. alittle more detail will help us all try to figure out what the problem might be, and also a picture would be a big help.
I would guess its a bacterial infection, but thats simply by your comment of a red spot. but more detail will help us figure out a plan to bring the fishie back to good heath.

| Re: tang problem? i do a 50% water change ever 2 weeks my tank is 55g and his only buddie is a small lionfish.Recently the tang is kinda shy always going into his cave or hiding when i come up to the tank |

| Re: tang problem? He could have gotten stung by your lionfish. Redness would mean irritation to me. I would monitor the situation closely, especially at night.
It could have just been an accident....

| Re: tang problem? hrm good call brad, google wasnt my friend on this one... when i searched red spots it came up with bacteria infections, but irritation seems more like it. and with a lion definitly a possibility.

| Re: tang problem? last night I noticed brown spots on my yellow tang. maybe 10-15 on each side scattered. they looked like brown pieces of sand. bacteria? ill try and get a pic
