| Dead Puffer and toxins I just found my saddled puffer dead. I have not seen him for 24 hours so I went looking. My question is, should I be concerned of toxins since I did not find him sooner? It is close to 32 hours I would guess since his death.

| Re: Dead Puffer and toxins He is out. He only lasted a week. The last three fish I have been adding are not working out. Luckily, the second to the last I was able to return in good health. My five other fish are fine. I really need pay special attention to the aggressive nature of my next fish.

| Re: Dead Puffer and toxins I am not sure about the saddled puffer exactly, but I am under the impression that most puffers are poisonous, not venomous...meaning you have to eat it in order to suffer any consequences (like "Fugu"...I think that is what it's called). So, if that is correct, you should be ok unless something was eating it. I have a porcupine puffer in my tank and was never told to worry about it. Boxfish/Cowfish on the other hand are a different story I believe. |

| Re: Dead Puffer and toxins You should not have any toxin issues, but I would check for ammonia, nitrites and notrate levels that may be elevated due to the time it was in the tank decomposing. What size tank do you have is it the 75 in your signature, and what are the 5 fish you have? You may be overstocking which could be causing the issue with your recent additons, bio load aside, fish need their own territories and haveing that many fish may not provide enough room for all of them to get along regardless of aggression.

| Re: Dead Puffer and toxins I don't think it is a bio load problem. All five fish are between 2-4" and small. For a 75 gallon tank this should not be a problem. I am aware that different fish in " may equate to more or less of a bio impact. My water parameters are excellent. This number six fish is the problem. With that said, I'm going to leave the count where it is at for now.
