| Re: Help !!! I think my Royal Gamma is on his way out!! First off cichlidgirl I strongly oppose the use of fish to cycle a new MARINE aquarium. I was simply stating that this was a common misconception on the "easier" way to cycle . As far as the 5 days old thing, the chances for a fish to live in a brand new tank decrease dramaticly with like you said, the lack of knowledge on what to do in event of a problem. Unfortunately like the one cj96ss is having. In the future, i will tread carefully, and make sure my suggestions are received with the utmost sensitivity. So that being said...from the wise words of our trusty neiborhood moderator Loman, back to the original broadcast. --CBR

| Re: Help !!! I think my Royal Gamma is on his way out!! Hey cj96ss,
I am really sorry to hear about your losses. As I am sure you know, things can go bad really fast inthis hobby and especially on the saltwater side. I don't really know how else to put it, but I have a feeling cichlidgirl may hve thought that you had a FW tank and while the principles may be the same, there is a big difference in the approach. Obviously the entire issue doesn't really boil down to who is right or who is wrong, but only toward methods of keeping fish alive. The battle line just gets a little blurry is all. I am absolutely sure that every member of this forum is willing to help you out so don't let this thread be your gauge of FTF.
Anyways, do you know what your water parameters are right now? While nitrAtes aren't a huge issue for fish if kept at reasonable levels, your anemone might be suffering from them. Does it seem to 'deflate' itself alot?
What type of anemone do you have? What lights do you have?
Are your clownfish hosting in the anemone? |
