ich, among other things...

i bought a skat 3 weeks ago who appeared 100% healthy at the time. about a week later i noticed it had ich on it... then a day later it started going blind with what looks like a parasite in the left eye... by middle of last week it was completely blind in the left eye and as of this weekend it is almost completely blind in the right eye. it also looks like its getting some sort of fin rot... none of the other fish pick on it, so i really dont think its losing its fins to bites. today i noticed some of the other fish are getting ich and losing a little fin mass, including my favorite blackcap baslett(who is going blind int he right eye as of today). i also noticed that i lost one of my firefish (half of it was sitting on the bottom of the tank this morning). any ideas? i dont have a second tank up and running but i have a few extra 30 gals in the garage i could set up. what should i do with the skat that seems to be causing(from what i can see) all the problem? and as for the other fish.. aside from the ich, which i have heard MANY mixed reviews on how to solve, can i or how can i solve these problems?

I would remove all sick fish asap, this will stop these diseases from further spreading to whatever fish you have left. You can try and treat a broad spectrum of bacteria, like using Maracyn 1 or 2. Ich is difficult to remove/cure. I was unsuccessful in treating an angelfish with copper. I let my tank go fishless for 8 weeks and it has not returned.

Since then I have been trying to introduce only healthy disease free fish.

All fish were affected, all but 5 have died; Of which one is at the LFS gettin treated by copper. The remaining four (rabbit, wrasse, chromi, and a purple firefish) are still swimmin. The catastrophe seems to be over; the fish are looking better. however, i am questioning my rabbitfish... a day after i removed the skat(hes the one at the LFS), i noticed that he started to get very pronounced ich spots on his body, the day after he was completely covered. However, yesterday, his "skin" was floating around, ich spots and all, and he was swimming around as he had been pre-ich. Is this normal, or even possible?
