Help! Mushrooms on way out?

Hey all. New to reef, proud owner of 7 mushrooms. Two of these are a dark purple color. I'm not sure if this is normal or if something has gone way wrong. They have been in my tank for well over a month. All perameters are good. Just had my water tested at lfs two day ago. i have 2 pc at 96 watts. Minimal air flow is going to the mushrooms. I am feeding them Kent Marine Phyto Plex and Kent Marine Essential Elements.

The first picture is how they have always looked. The second picture is how one of them is now looking. I noticed it about two hours ago.

Any suggestions would be great!

As you can see, his color has changed and his mouth looks really open.

Thanks again for the help!

I occacional notice one of my shrooms look like yours. I'm not sure why they do it, but they go back to normal later that day or the next. (for me anyway)

Are you dosing any Iodine? That helps keep them let's say more "stable". I believe they "fade" or loose color when they are digesting (eating).

Re: Help! Mushrooms on way out?

You purchase an additive and dose per directions. IMO salt mixes are sufficient enough for mushrooms though.

Yes bandr, you purchase it separately. I use Kent Marine Iodine. While salt mixes have Iodine it is in the "trace" category and not in "solution" form. The solution is better at saturating you tank to make it more available for use by corals. Follow the bottle instructions. I dose a tad less than what they recommend every week.
