| Tube anemone? So my husband bought an anemone of some sort yesterday. Of course he didnt "catch the name", but i believe it might be a tube anemone. Im feeding it silverside 3 times a week... its neon pink in color and has angelhair-pasta-like width tentacles. they are VERY long. however, im having trouble with placing it in my tank. I have a koralia 4 and 2 mj 1200s in there, so the flow is decent. everywhere i seem to put it the tentacles wave everywhere, however when it was at the lfs it had all its tentacles calmly on the sand. im wondering if the flow in my tank is too high? im also having a hard time putting it in the sand. they suggested using a piece of pvc to support it in the sand bed (its a sand dwelling anemone of some kind), however every time i put it somewhere it eventually gets out of its sandy pvc hole and drifts away. i was thinking of moving the power heads so i have an area of low flow... but i dont know how to arrange that. any ideas???? im getting frustrated!

| Re: Tube anemone? The flow should not bother it, just keep it at a lower flow, it should not sit on the sand like at your lfs, it should sway gently in the current.
I would spot feed mysis and plankton instead of all silversides. The silversides can be much harder for the anemone to digest than the mysis or plankton. You can feed him silversides every now and again, but I wouldnt feed it silversides all the time. |

| Re: Tube anemone? Post a pic of the whole tank so I/we can see the power heads.......Or I will look up some of your old posts, providing they are still in the same location. |

| Re: Tube anemone? alright, the two mjs are on the left of the tank with one towards the center of the tank. the koralia 4 is in the center facing the right of the tank, diagonally and up. sorry the front is so dirty, ive been screwing with the water since last night. you can see the anemone, that i still dont know what kind it is, on the left side of the tank. that is the LOWEST area of flow, and its still being pushed towards the back of the tank by the current. i dont have the slightest idea where to put it, everywhere ive tried to put it it gets blown out of the sand, with or without pvc. lights have been out for 2 hours now, the tank looks baren!
GM, so should mysis and plankton be fed 2-3 times a week with silverside once every couple weeks to substitute a meal? i had 3 guys suggest the silverside to me for the anemone....
