I second adding a halimeda plant. Great macro algae to start with. I like mine beacuse it doesn't grow very fast at all. Nothing in my tank picks at it either. Except my conches... but they just vaccume off anything that lands on them. You can probably get away with placing one in your sand at the bottom of the tank.
