What is the temp. in Fahrenheit? If you are using a Hydrometer make sure it is good. If possible take it to your local aquarium store and have them calibrate it. If it is o.k. siphon out 2 gal. of water (you don't say how large a tank you have) if the tank is 55 gal. and under and add fresh water (no salt) and do this every other day until the SG falls to whatever you are aiming for.

Ok, if I have this correct, your tank size is 55-60 gallons and 24 degrees Celsius is about 75.2 F. Having figured that out, did you season your Hydrometer? Be sure no bubbles are collected around the needle as that will give you a false reading. I give mine a good thump or two just to be sure. Most recommend a refractometer for true acuracy.

Re: in need of help

Hydrometers and refractometers give a reading as related to a specific temp. Refracts are temp compensated (the better ones) but hydros aren't. You are at 72 degrees F and that is a little low. Any salt water tank should be maintained between 75-80 degrees F. So you must find the directions or pamphlet and find out at that temp what your salt really is.
