Re: another question

It's your tank. You can do whatever you want with it! LFS told you that you could leave your freshwater fish in the tank you're converting to salt? Let me just say that I got my 55 for Christmas and did not start it up until February. I took all that time to read everything I could and yes, often there was conflicting ideas and info BUT I believe someone mentioned the rule of 3? If you can find three who can agree on something, chances are it's good info. Just don't rush, do your research and continue to ask questions and you'll learn just like the rest of us.

Re: another question

it is possible to keep them in there. just like its possible to have the green puffer in there. they are all brackish water fish the just take time to adjust to the water.

Re: another question

Hey guys,

From my understanding you CANNOT change a FW tank to SW while running it. You can however tranfer your fish to a small 10-20g tank. Break down the FW tank, remove all gravel and scrub with a 50-50 mix of water/vinager. Rinse clean.

It is then ready to be used for a SW tank. You then would need some fresh Ro/DI water to fill it backup with. Your filtration will have to change aswell. Do not use anything from the FW setup in the new SW tank.

The bacteria in FW is different from that in SW. You need to establish bacteria in the SW before adding livestock, the same as FW.

Hope some of my ramblings help, I jump around a lot!
