| More lighting for 75 gallon reef I was at my LFS and they had a coralife 260 watt cf on consignment. I picked up up for a third it's original cost and it had moon lights which my current model did not.
I have enough room in my hood to house both lights but it makes it quite hard to feed etc. So, I'm going to mount one of the fixtures to the hood. This way when opened there will be room to work.
That will give me 520 watts of total lighting and 6.9 watts per gallon.
One light has all new CF's and the another they are six months old. I thought I would slowly increase more lighting. I though about buying the coralife 50/50 cf's so I could stage a balance white/blue 130 watts at a time. If I use conventional lamps I would have to settle for antinics or daylights. I don't want to blast twice the light right away. Any thought on this? I was also planning on starting one fixture and midday adding the 130watts for a sun high in the sky effect.
Yes, I checked the cooling and I get 1.5 degree a day hike on a 90 degree day in Georgia.
