Re: My first cycle

Tell you the truth, I can't give you any 100% answer on this one.....Yes, there are "natural ways" to achieve ph balance. The trick is, the Ph is always fluctuating down. Ph buffer is used 9 times out of 10 to bring it back up.

New water could be a perfect solution - It also might be no help at all. Just depends on what your H2O source is ( as it's all different ) Just be sure to be using
DI/RO. Grab some distilled water from your local grocery store. It cost me about $4 to do 20% change.

Any one else have any thoughst on the PH?

Re: My first cycle

You don't test alkalinity/carbonate hardness? Keeping that at a good level will keep your ph 8.3-8.4 and more stable.

Re: My first cycle

What will be the primary filtration source for you display tank? If you have a HOB mechanical filter With Dual Bio wheels...you could use one of them as needed for a QTand insert it into the QT filter....If not maybe keep a spare sponge in the back of the HOB chamber.

Just remember Filter media can always be helpful BUT make sure you're achieving "parameter stability" with your LR.....Unlike freshwater, A "filter" should never be the main source of "filtration"
