Is it necessaryto have a UV Sterilizer on a salt water shark tank .

No... In fact with proper qurentine practices and well adjusted lighting, i'd be a waste of money for you.. They work well to kill parasites in your water and help with preventing algal blooms. If you make sure your fish are parasite free and have the correct spectum of lighting you wont have to worry about it.. I hope that helped.--->CBR

I think CBRider is right. I have one but only use it a couple days a week. Primarily after my Saturday cleaning. Some of the algae and craps that is free floating will have a chance to make it through the system. Since I have corals and feed live food, I'm afraid it will kill lots of the micro creatures. That is why I only run it after a tank cleaning.
