RO/DI Unit Question

I'm looking around for a R0/DI unit to support my new SW tank FOWLR. I found this unit by GE called the Merlin. I looks like a great unit. It states it will do up to 700 gallons per day. My wife was wanting RO water at the sink, so I was looking to satisfy both our needs. The unit sells on average for $400 dollars.

I'm confused on the DI part. It states it has carbon pre-filter and post-filter. Is that the same as DI?

Here is the link to the spec:

I has multiple output for i.e., ice maker, faucet, and in my case an extra storage tank.

Re: RO/DI Unit Question

That link doesnt work for me, its just a blank screen. The GE would work as long as it is a true RO/DI unit.

I have a 5 stage unit from thefilterguys.biz. They have a 75 gpd RO/DI unit for $135+SH, its the second one down on this page: The DI resin is the sideways little tube on the very top of the unit. That will show you what you are looking for.

Also, if you were looking for a bigger one, the last one on the page is a 150gpd unit for $240+SH.

If you need to get water to the sink you will need a holding tank, water tank fittings, and a facuet. These are here at bottom of page:

Might be cheaper than spending $400.... Just my 2 cents!!!

Re: RO/DI Unit Question

I have never seen a RO/DI that would give you that volume, RO units are the only ones I have seen that put out those numbers. I know the model you are talking about as a friend of mine uses it for all his water as he has well water, but he does not use it for his tanks, he has a RO/DI from the filter guys for the tank water.
