I just bought a used nano cube (12 gallon single bulb-old style). I bought it used trying to save some money. The guy said the bulb was bad so i bought a new bulb. When i plugged in the light and switched it on it did not work. I took it apart and what appears to be a ballast? was under the reflector. I took off the casing and there was a bunch of reddish brown stuff on the back. I am trying to find a new one cheap ($15.00) and am not having any luck. I would pay up to $25 if need be. Does anyone know any online distibuters for this part?

I am an electrical contractor in the UK, but i am guessing that you are in the US. If so simply take the ballast into a electrical wholesaler/trade discount centre/supplier.

good luck, what you require should almost certainly be availavle for a reasonable price if you follow the route i described. If you approach the tank or fitting manufacturer you will pay a premium for replacement parts, and unless you know what exactly to buy, dont bother online as you could be wasting your time.
