i think some thing is wrong

hello when i woke up this morning i checked my tank and i saw some water in the skimmer cup not much maby half an inch is some thing wrong i took the cup off and dumped the water out and none as gone back in yet but i can see this white bubbly crap going up the center tube of the cup!! is any thing wrong????

That white bubbley stuff is exactly what you want to see, to put it in basic terms, what happens is this. Un-disolved organic matter actually clings to the bubbles and the bubbles rise to the top, spilling into the collection cup to be removed. The entire process ismore complicated that that but that is the jist of it.

that white stuff is still in the center tube of the cub it has not gone up or down it is in the same spot does that matter
