sorry guys but one more thing ok wait 2things i think my skimmer is broken in now but there is nothing in the tank yet i see this white film on side of the cup and i can see foam in the middle tube in the cup so this means it is working?????


all so for the air in the water for the fish all im useing is the skimmer is that fine or do i need a pump that pumps up the water filters it then puts it back in or will that be to much since when the bubble pop at the top the salt go's every where (after time you can tell) so im told


or is the skimmer fine all i have is a 40gal and the skimmer is a seaclone 100

Yup its working now, you should be able to adjust the bubbles to make the skimate dry or wet. I run mine dry, this means I get very green gunk coming out, if it is wet it will be lighter green and look like tea. As far as the oxygen the skimmer will be plenty for your tank.

For proper air water interaction, the best thing you can do is use a power head or a sump return to disturb the top of the water in the tank. This turbulance of the surface water is what improves that interaction to rid the tank of the CO2 and help maintain the pH of the water.
This is especially critical when the home is shut up in winter cold or summer heat with A/C on, where CO2 levels are higher because not enough fresh air is getting into the home. It's the first thing to check out when you find a low pH but have an acceptable alkalinity level.
