seaclone 100 question

Hi, i have modified my seaclone according to what everyone says. Replace the air valve, cut the inned tube to about 3", cut the collection cup tube, and sealed the collection cup.

Now i'm still getting micro bubbles in my tank and i'm just getting clear water in the collection cup and it fills up about every 5 hours.

what is the correct setting for the air valve? when do I need to stop turning?

If it is in the "break in" period, I would keep the water level about 1/2-1" below the collection cup. The unit will be broken in when the inner part of the riser tube feeding the collection cup has a coating of skimate and I have had skimmer thet broke in in a few hours and others that took 2 weeks.

Here is link for the manual for your skimmer, it explains the process pretty well.

Ok, no matter what I do, I still get bubbles in the tank, I replaced the air valved with 2 different valves already and still no results. It's been running for about 2 weeks now. I know some people say that it takes them several weeks to break it in, but is there anything else i can try? I'm getting white bubbles in the collection cup but the water is still white.

Ive also seen some people drill a hole on the side of the collection cup and put a line that leads to a container. Like an automatic drain kinda.

You can put a sponge on the end of the return line of the skimmer, that should break up most of the bubbles before entering the tank, watch you water level though when you put one on, it will slow the flow out of the skimmer and you will prob. need to adjust water height. You can add a drain hose, a lot of skimers come with that already.
Unfortunatly it is very tough to adjust less expensive skimmers like that, but once you do find the sweet spot, it should work OK, leaving you collection cup with a brown color to it, green is OK, but that is a weaker skim rate, brown shows better results but it tougher to obtain especially on less expensive skimmers.

when I lower the air, more water and bigger and more bubbles go to the tank. But when I put it to wide open less water comes out, and less bubbles comes out and they are very tiny. I have tried putting a sponge at the end and nothing seems to happen.

no matter what i do in between wide open or close, there are still bubbles in the tank.
