can i not put a pump in the sump and just put the water coming out from the skimmer in the sump? so it goes to the skimmer then the hang on sump then back to the tank?

There are external skimmers that work the same way, but to adapt one not meant for that purpose would make it a challange to do the plumbing, not impossible but tough.

I will post a picture after I do it, or if I successfully do it.

Oh man, It worked but there was too little water flow so i took it off. water from the skimmer did go to the hang on sump, but there was too little water flow that my water didn't seem like it was moving at all. So ive decided to just take it off and just do a plain skimmer and hang on sump.

Funny how the best laid plans on paper sometimes work out that way, I admire your initative on trying new things though, keep it up, you may find something to make all our tanks better.
