| Hydor Koralia 4 pump vibration I picked up a new hydor this weekend and installed it in the tank. It made my old power-head look really bad. The tank adjusted and the corals came back out to enjoy the new current.
Now the bad part. When I went to bed i could hear that vibrating sound you can get from pumps etc. So through the process of elimination it is the new pump that is creating this cycle of hum and vibration. It is like it is out of phase of the other aquarium equipment. When you put your ear up to the glass there is a significant amount of noise compared to when the hydor is off.
A. Has anyone every made any mods to the pump mount/magnet?
B. Has anyone noticed allot of vibration from the hydor?

| Re: Hydor Koralia 4 pump vibration I have 3 of them, and not an issue. I had moved them around when I bought them to get the flow right, and still not a peep out of them. The only time I hear anything out of them is when I first turn them on after doing a water change which only lasts a couple seconds. Maybe you got a faulty one.

| Re: Hydor Koralia 4 pump vibration I have 3 also and the only time was on one of them (Koralia 4) the way I had the cord was causing the noise. After fiddling with it (took it apart just to make sure it was clean) it was fine.

| Re: Hydor Koralia 4 pump vibration Thanks. If you put your ear up to the magnet I would suspect a hum. But this bad boy you can hear and feel. I can feel the the vibrations on the glass and it's resonating of the wall. It's even vibrating my hood. I will check the cord and see if it is to taught. Unplug it and the glass is still. It sounds like it may have a balance problem. Thanks, I will yank it out and look it over.
Good thing is I got if from the LFS so easy to trade out.

Good thing is I got if from the LFS so easy to trade out. | I know the noise your talking about. I just installed mine and the noise was noticable. Your propeller rod might be off a bit. If you have the screen attachment on then take it off and also take off the front part of the powerhead. Then just put it back together making sure the propeller rod goes straight into the connecting parts and it should get silent. I also gave mine a "slap" and it was quiet. No more noise from that sucker except if you put your ear very close to the magnet. Youll hear a hum. Hope that helps. |

| Re: Hydor Koralia 4 pump vibration Make sure when you remove the rod, not to lose the small gromet that goes at the end of it. I did that once and my K3 was loud, until I realized I was missing a piece. Now it is silent.
I would be inclined to talk to Hydor, they have great customer service, or return it to your lfs.
