are these lights ok

hey all, i have been doing a ton of research and i still am not sure of the lighting situation for my tank...

i have a 60 gal tank that i am wanting to stalk with various softies, lps, and maybe a few sps. i found these lights online and they seem to be the best deal for the money, the only plob is that my tank is only 12 inches from front to back and the lights are 15 inches or so will they work, or is this over kill.

http://www.aquamartonline.com/01584_1_4_1584.html

also is this a good brand, cause i called the store and the price on the shelf (as well as everywhere else online) is about 450 or so, a lfs can get me a similar setup that only has 6x54 watts for 350 should i go with that instead??

doing the math these ones that i have posted will put me right around 7 watts per gal, is that over kill??? please help i am a little confused

I would not say its over kill. But then again, your tank is the same as my 55 just alittle bit taller, and i have 4 T5s over it and it does pretty well. I got a retro for my canopy for 308 shipped with bulbs from reef geek, Im very happy with them. I dont have anything but Zoas, but i plan on getting an anenome and other corals and im pretty confident they will do well. I have different spectrums of light rather than just 2 daylights and 2 actinic. I have 1 daylight, 1 actinic, and 2 15kish bulbs.

Hey Bandr,

If it were me and you were set on the T-5's, I would look into this fixture:

http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewIt...s~vendor~.html

This Pro model has individual reflectors for each bulb instead of a cheap big reflector. It only around $370. Plus its should fit better on your tank than a 8-bulb fixture.... Plus cheaper!

If you didn't buy already I would look into Tek lights and if you want even nicer go for Aquactinics. Both have individual reflectors which will improve the light by 100's of percent. Also Current is known to have pretty inferior stock bulbs!!
