I'm new to this site but i need help! I have a 75 gallon tank with live rock. Saturday i had to soak my live rock in order to kill an infestation of bad bristol worms. I set the tank back up with new sand and cleaned live rock. The tank now has a bad odor to it so checked all levels Ammonia is above 8 and Nitrate is below 10 Nitrite is less than 2. Ph is at 8. My fis are living at the time in a 20 gallon tank that is fine! What can I do about the 75 gal. tank with the odor and high ammonia levels?

First off bristle worms are good. All you can do in the meantime is let your tank recycle since you killed all of your live rock. Water changes may help out.

Hi, the smell is probably from the worms in the rock that are dead and that explains the ammonia. Like chadf said, you have to wait out the newly created cycle. I would suggest adding bacteria, double the first dose and in a couple of days add another dose to help speed up the process.
