Hey Gang,

Probably a simple question, I tried searching previous posts and threads, but couldn't find an answer to my question.

Since adding my soft corals, I have been adding calcium to my tank. (2cap fulls twice a week) I did a 25% water change last week (exactly 7 days ago) and added a new skimmer, my nitrates were starting to creep up. All of a sudden today I noticed that my sand looks very dirty and there are spots of red "crust" (for lack of a better word) on the sand. Is this a side effect of the calcium or is this "red slime" ? I haven't noticed the sand being dirty like this since the initial cycle, and I change my water and monitor things on a regular basis, so what gives?
