Reddish Growth

I recently started to get a build up of this reddish brown colored growth. It covers the bottom and very little on the glass except in a few spots. Almost looks rusty in color and it wipes up ver easily. Anyone know what this could be?

Sounds like algae. How long are the lights on, and is the tank in direct sunlight?

It sounds like a normal stage during the cycling period, how long has the tank been set up for?

The lights are on for about 10 hours. It not in direct sunlight and the tank is about 2 months old.

Red slime is part of the natural cycling process and you are in about the right time frame for that stage, do you also have brown algae in the tank still? Are you using RO/DI water or tap?
